RESTORE THE ROAR

SUBTEAMS

Here is a brief description of the roles and responsibilities of each sub team!

Programming

Lead: Isabel Berena

We tackle creating the software to automate the robot. The goal is to program software that allows the robot to complete missions instructed by the competition's field game. The real challenge is to ensure the robot operates flawlessly by debugging any errors that might occur when compiling the code and in between matches. We also contribute to some of the electrical aspects of the robot, such as circuitry. In simpler terms, we build the brain of the robot.

Mechanical

Lead: Sakura Cheung

We build the hardware for the robot or in simpler terms, the body. Safety is a priority, especially when using the cutting machines or assembling metal and wooden materials, so we teach and maintain these expectations with our team. Other duties include assembling its mechanisms and the pneumatics. We work closely with the programming and design team when iterating on our robot’s functionality after matches.

Design

Lead: Andy Wu

We are responsible for modeling and producing industry-standard 3D CAD blueprints, making sure the robot can adapt and perform according to its software whilst competing. Furthermore, we’re responsible for teaching computer-aided design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks to our team members and any future members.

Electrical

Lead: Allan Tang

We are in charge of bridging the gap between the physical and coded part of the robot. Duties are but not limited to cable management, safety, and inventory/protection of electrical parts. From designing an optimal electrical setup with components to testing batteries in preparation for competitions, the electrical team plays a vital role in the team.

Fundraising and Sponsorship

Lead: Joyce Chen

We are responsible for generating money and reaching out for sponsorships. Whether it's in-person or online, the fundraising and sponsorship team aims to gather money through school fundraisers (i.e. bake sales), sponsorships from organizations, and many different channels. The team is also tasked with the duty of up-holding promises made in-exchange for sponsorships and creating events.

Financial Admin

Lead: Nargis Jafari

We document and track the financial position of the team. Every month, the financial admin team will present the current financial status of the team and keep them up to date on expenses, budgets, and future initiatives. Our team will work together with the fundraising and sponsorship team to create cost-effective events and ensure that each member contributes something.

Public Relations

Lead: Madison Cheung

The PR subteam is responsible for capturing and sharing the team's activities through photos and videos, including competitions and fundraisers. They manage our instagram (@frc_919), posting regularly and interacting with our audience. Additionally, the PR team plays a key role in outreach and recruitment by informing and guiding new members.

Strategy

Lead: Jayden Eng

The strategy is a competition-specified sub team that primarily focuses on developing an optimal strategy and scouting. Other responsibilities include communicating with other teams about their robots, going to strategy meetings, and reviewing gameplay. Located in the stands and the drive team, the strategy team is vital for a strong performance.
